Nina Starner, a Philadelphia based editor and writer, joins BackBone
Today we’re delighted to announce that Nina Starner has joined the team as Account Manager. Nina will work with BackBone’s healthcare and technology clients in expanding their visibility via traditional (print, electronic) and social media.
Nina has written and edited for a variety of publications, including The Drink Nation, a Philadelphia-based website that focuses on the best of food and beverages, The Culture Trip (editorial project manager and copy editor) and Bustle (content curator for their popular mobile app). She brings a journalist’s eye for news: how to create timely and compelling media pitches, press releases, blog posts, articles, even tweets that get attention and resonate with editors and readers.
“Nina’s writing has a verve and style that will add an exciting dimension to the work we do for our clients,” said Charles Epstein, BackBone’s President. “Her experience at several fast-paced consumer-oriented media outlets gives Nina an understanding of know how newsrooms work and what editors want. She’s equally adept at writing long-form features as she is at crafting pithy, engaging blog posts or tweets. Nina is a strong addition to the team and I’m sure our clients will be delighted to work with her.”
In her role as Account Manager, Nina will be involved in developing media strategy and supporting the end-to-end PR and communications needs of BackBone’s clients.
“I’m excited to join Backbone’s team and helping our clients expand their coverage and target it as they need,” Starner said. “My background in journalism and social media gives me a unique lens into what will get the attention of a time-strapped editor who fields tons of media queries each day. I am also excited about working on several of BackBone’s special projects, including Tweeture Feature, an online platform that uses pop culture to bring mainstream awareness to mental and behavioral health.”
